Huzzah! A new job!

Post by xyanthon »

I'm so very excited. I just accepted a job offer in Italy working for the Department of Defense as a network security specialist. It's a lateral move as I already work for the DoD as a Systems Admin but a great chance foe the family and I to get to spend a few years in Europe. Sorry, I am just so excited I had to share. :D

Congrats, xyanthon.

Looks like you'll be able to attend GrogCon Europe. :)

Thanks gang. It's with the US DoD supporting the army (I'm a GS Civil Servant after getting out of the Air Force a little over a year ago). I would love to attend GrogCon so I'll try and work it. It is going to be pretty hectic as we are going to have to get ready for the move and we are expecting our second child in early April. Well, my family and I are all about huge lifechanges!

Congrats xyanthon! Glad to hear you're getting away from the humidity, water rationing, gigantic bugs and cinderblock housing. How old is your oldest? Knowing from experience, making that trip with small kids is a real killer.

Wheggi,

He's 2 almost 3. He is already a seasoned traveler so I'm not so worried about him. I'm not sure of my report date so I'm more concerned about my wife. She is due in two months and we'd like to get her over there before the second one is born but I'm not sure how realistic that is. It all depends on how long it takes to get the visa to go to Italy. We'll see. It's all just another great adventure!

Thanks gang! I'm really excited. I start sometime in May which is nice because I'm expecting my second child in early April. Two fantastic events in a row. When is Grogcon planned for? If it is feasible I definitely would love to attend. Are there any other good cons in Europe? How's the English speaking gaming scene across the continent? After living in Japan, I'm fairly confident that I can pick up at least a modicum of Italian and bring my German up to par (I lived in Nuremburg when I was in High School 20 years ago).

:D Actually, the place we have reserved for GrogCon is near Nürnberg, in Würzburg. Estimated date is the last weekend in October. So maybe you alreadyhave the time to drop by. :)

It's all very vague still, but it will be quickly shaping its profile as soon as my exams are over. :)
