You Know You Play Too Much AD&D When...

... You watch Gigantor and wonder if Jimmy Sparks gets half XP for using a giant robot.

... You wonder why none of the characters in Highlander wear +2 Plate Mail (or any armor, rather).

... You allow a Player Character to acquire the Legendary Sword of Conan, only to have him point out "Which one? He musta used millions of them!"

... You try to calculate the exact XP value of every monster the Power Rangers fight.

... You try to work out exactly how He-Man's Power Sword works, in AD&D terms.

... You watch Ninja Turtles and think, "Shredder has an obvious advantage; He has a lower AC."

,,, When you first found out Scully (of X-Files) had cancer, you thought, "She must've failed her saving throw vs. poison."

-You know the exact alignment of everyone in your life.
-You keep dice in your drawer and randomly role to figure out what to do (this isn't me but someone I know).
-You look at cracks and impressions in walls etc. and imagine them as dungeons.

-You have to go to a public place (such as your local county fair) where you may not want to run into some people you know and you express this to yourself as CHANCE OF ENCOUNTER: 1in6 every turn.

-You run into someone in public who knows you but you don’t know them but you pull off knowing them anyway and you think to yourself “I must have made a good encounter reaction roll”

-Everyone you know calls you to let you know that the new D&D movie is out, even though you tell them that that movie has little to do with The Game.

I watch shedloads of Disney movies because I have a four year old daughter and I by default have to watch shedloads of Disney movies ;) , but one of the "YMPTMAD&D" artifacts is giving AD&D stats to everyone.

My particular favorite is Aladdin: so you've got the Djinn...excuse me, genie who's obviously got limited wish at will. So he'd be a major "genie"! Then there's Jafar, a lawful evil illusionist who later becomes an efreet...who immediately gets cursed into being thrown into the Cave of Wonders. Now Iago...there's an interesting creature. My thoughts? Iago hung around Jafar simply because Iago was in fact an imp who polymorphed himself and was waiting around for Jafar to fatally screw up. Iago would then grab Jafar's soul and ... well, you know.

Aladdin himself? High level thief-acrobat. Look at some of the stunts he can pull off! :) Oh and Abu is just a very intelligent monkey with some thiefing abilities himself.

SEE? I can't NOT!

When I was a todd, my mom exposed me to a lot of obscure animation such as John the Fearless and Clementine's Enchanted Journey. Granted that's most because they were cheap. It's too bad all kids have today is the mass-produced, creativity-strangling, braincell-killing, personality-stifling shlock Disney puts out.

That being said... thinking about Aladdin that way makes it a MUCH more interesting movie. I'd have to ask how you would interpret something like The Rescuers in that light.

The Rescuers is a tough one since it's really set more in modern times. I guess you'd have to say Bernard and Bianca might be thieves, or maybe even fighters. Medusa? Hmm. Fighter/thief. Snoops is a plain-jane thief (and a poor one, 1st or 2nd level at best). Medusa has some speak with animals thing going on, but as I said it's tough to bring that one into the AD&D fold.

To skip back to Aladdin real quick, I'd also mention that Jasmine starts up as a thief in the 2nd or 3rd film. The Sultan's just a "normal" guy, nothing terribly special about him. Lawful Good with Neutral tendencies. Jasmine's Chaotic Good (she obviously prefers personal freedom over the laws of the kingdom).

Now take Sleeping Beauty - there's another one we can have a load of fun with. The fairies (Flora, Fauna and Merriweather) are just that and have loads of polymorph any object with their wands.

Prince Phillip is a mid-to-high level fighter; I'd even go so far as to say Paladin. Obviously he's got a high affinity with his warhorse. Then of course the fairies lay that holy avenger cum dragon slayer on him, along with that shield that totally mitigates the effects of Maleficient's dragon's breath.

As to herself, she's obviously chaotic evil, maybe neutral evil. She's got an army of what appear to be goblins (could be hobgoblins or orcs, though). I'd say she's a very very high level magic-user.

I could go on all night...!

Lest we forget-

The Sword in the Stone, The Black Cauldron, and Beauty and the Beast.

I heard The Black Cauldron was teh crap.

My kids have a straight-to-video Disney movie, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, which is more or less a D&D adventure turned into a movie.

Seriously.
