This actually happened a little while back. ;) I didn't even notice it going copper.

Check out the sales rankings for other OSRIC products. Impressive stuff.

Old-School Gazette #1 is doing even better -- it's Electrum.

Wow. I'm actually a bit rocked back by this. It's more than I even envisioned when I wrote the first draft, and I was manic at the time, for goodness sakes.

Here's an idea. We should ask Mr. Gygax if it would be okay to put "based on original rules by Gary Gygax" on the cover, and then ...

Apply for an Ennie for OSRIC itself and (provided there's an appropriate category) ...

Apply for an ennie in whatever other category applies for Mr. Gygax for the abstract rules included in OSRIC. I bet the old school community would like the chance to express a little appreciation and shout loud.

Obviously, we'd need Mr. Gygax's permission ... and he's apparently not well at the moment. But it would be cool to ask.

Or perhaps I'm just having a manic moment again. *sigh* It's hard to tell, sometimes. :|

The Goblinoid Games products have been up roughly a week, and not doing too shabby. On the Edge site Fantasy Caverns is #6 on the hot seller list, and Medusa's Hunger is #16. Could be better, but certainly could be worse!

If you're gonna ask Gary for permission to use his name, you might want to ask Dave Arneson as well. It's only right.

I would strongly doubt that Gary would allow you to use his name.

Dave Arneson might, but I don't think putting his name on OSRIC would be at all accurate. I don't know what % of the OD&D rules were ultimately his, and I don't imagine that more than 10% of the 1e rules came from his ideas.

I would tend to doubt it, too. But I'm not talking about "using" his name - that's why I raise the thought in a thread about how OSRIC has already gained considerable acceptance. I wouldn't ask until we'd already achieved success - and then ask if he'd like the credit he's due. I don't want to ride on his name recognition, but I'd kind of like to offer him the credit now that name recognition isn't the issue. Simply as a matter of courtesy.

From various public comments Gary has made, I don't think it's likely that he would be interested in being associated with OSRIC. I can't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't expect a positive response.

Well, it's up to P&P, anyway. He acts as my surrogate net superego. I'm just a roving id. :D

It's nice to know that Mythmere is pleased, but personally, I don't intend to settle for "silver." I think "platinum" would be satisfactory.

how many downloads do you need for platinum?

Dunno; it's relative to the competition rather than absolute, I think.
