I like the idea of an annual award. I'm not particular about where the voting is held but DF seems like a good place (although I try to frequent here, DF, Delvers and Enworld). Enworld is a good place to get some more exposure I think.

Maybe like Origins, voting should lead to one annual award, to be given out at LGGC. ;)

Heh, yeah, LGGC is a great event. Well, it's the only con I've ever been to, but I loved it. Though TLG put it on, I didn't see much C&C being played there, heh! Regards.

I see the need here for this being a very "visual" award, in terms of people in the gaming community hearing about it, knowing about it, etc. So in this vein, host it where you feel it should be hosted. it might be hosted here, in which case all of us should also begin a campaign to publicize these message boards.

A made a post over on DF, I'd be curious to see what you guys think of what I said.

Trying to have a meaningful old school award without Dragonsfoot's participation would be like trying to do the ENnies without ENWorld.

However it's done, DF has to be included and DF people fired up about it, or it's totally meaningless.

Also, I don't think we can run it on this site -- because if an OSRIC product wins, we'll be accused of bias. I think the judges and the host site need to be visibly independent.

Ten years old -- and still no kickstarter!

Seems like DF doesn't want any kind of award.

DF has their own line of products as well. So the same bias could be claimed against them. I have toyed with the idea of a series of awards for quite sometime. Player nominated sort of things (how that would work I have no diea). But I am thinking a third party site made up of individual representatives form a number of 1st Edition-type sites specifically to address this sort of endeavor is also an option.
