I was probably in a bubble because NYC prices were more competitive especially in the outer boroughs. I totally forgot that. I remember going upstate and the sticker shock was intense. My main vein was the Haven Hobby Shop which carried Citadel miniatures, Grenadier and Ral Partha. My friend stole a miniature and he went back to replace it after he saw my face but the owner already knew it was missing and he said,"Don't ever come back! But not you, you're welcome anytime!"

I believe my Monster Manual was $12, and my DMG was $15 and this was in the very early 1980s.

Anyway, I too am firmly in the "no thanks" camp when it comes to electronic boards for D&D. At that point you're just a half-step from using Roll20 anyway.

That said I love Dwarven Forge and minis! I don't find it takes away from the game at all, really.
