Five of us (wife, kids and MiL) will be taking a cruise out of Galveston on June 10th.
A couple questions for those in the Houston region:
What is the best way for 5 travelers (say each with a single carry on) to get from Houston International to Galveston (by ground) on a Saturday? Also, what mid-range ($150-200/night) hotels would you recommend in Galveston?
Thanks much.

Re: Houston International to Galveston...?
Been a few years since I lived in Houston. I moved from there to where I currently live (Arkansas) in 2004. A taxi from the airport to Galveston would probably be pretty expensive. It is probably a good 45 mins or more from the airport area to Galveston. As for hotels In Galveston I really could not tell you. There are probably many overlooking the beaches there to choose from. Hotels.com would be your best bet for that. You might also rent a car or SUV from Houston Intercontinental and drive down to Galveston. From the airport you can connect to the tollway and make your way to I-45. Then head south down I-45 to Galveston. As long as you are not there during rush hour the drive down should take you 45 minutes or so. During rush hour it might be quite a bit longer. Or you might try Uber or Lyft. One of those might be cheaper than a taxi but I am not sure one of them would come with a vehicle capable of taking five plus luggage.

If it were me, I'd rent a car. From the airport, I'd take Will Clayton Pkwy to I-69. Go south on I-69 until it hits I-45 (downtown), and take I-45S to Galveston. It will be about an hour's drive, usually. Also, there are no tolls going this way.
Not sure about hotels. I'd just poke around online.
