Conan never had any 'new genration' to worry about. Bond has in a way done that with the reboot to Craig.. Same with new people in Batman's role..

Except that those sagas dealt solely with one iconic hero; the SW saga has shown the life of many people with the Skywalker clan being the central focus: the romance of Han and Leia, the adventures of the droids, the coming of age of Obi-Wan, etc.

Since the prequel (hawwk... spit...) built up to the births of Luke and Leia, it would be only fitting for the sequels to portray their deaths.

Well, they should kill them off now, not because of the Prequels (cf. Parzival, 2 books about Parzival’s father followed by 14 books about Parzival) but because they put the old actors in movies, and they’re just not very appealing anymore.

I was just defending the old novels where the Big 3 had adventures for decades without ever completely “passing the torch”.
