I have an 8AM private student on the other side of town 3 days a week. He's started staring at his mobile phone and chatting during class. Normally I wouldn't get irritated but he's the only student. I'm wondering if a physical assault would get his attention.

I had a student like that I was tutoring. The local community college gave free tuition to high school grads if they could manage not to flunk out of any of their classes and paid tutors to help them. They were the laziest pieces of crap imaginable. They expected me to teach them everything they didn't bother learning in class. Luckily the head of the math department would kick them off the tutoring list if they didn't have their work completed (homework and pre-tests) before they met with me. There were always more students then tutors so I never lost money getting rid of the do-nothings.

My friends adopted a kitten from the nice outside cat outside. He has been inside for about a month now. The kitten was in the treshhold of the door and I picked him up as I didn't want him to get outside. Suddenly on the screen door was banging, and the quiet meows of the outside cat who was freaking out. So holding the kitten I let the mom-cat smell the kitten, then the mom did the whole head bunting thing that cats do and then lay down and fell asleep. I was like Awwwww. Momma cat was worried for her lost kitten that was inside being spoiled.
