Indeed. Best of luck!

When Harvey was pummeling Texas and our Floridians were thinking about setting up a Florida KnK gathering, I almost posted, "Don't do it or your state will get hit by a massive hurricane, too." And now...

First Texas, now Florida.

I'm seeing a pattern; man-made climate change is real, and its being caused by the gathering of KnKers!

Perhaps chainsaw and Bill want to begin planning a KnK gathering in NC?

Wind speeds get all the sexy ink with hurricane reporting, and Irma is sure packing a wallop there. The folks in SE Florida probably have a bigger worry with the storm surge. Currently, some of the Caribbean islands are looking to entertain 20ft storm surges. With the approach Irma is looking to take at the tip of Florida, the shallower water there, and if Irma's pressure keeps dropping (it's already down to 912), then Miami is fucked. Hell, maybe even Homestead gets royally fucked again. A 20' surge might be conservative. It sure won't be any fun at least as far north as Palm Beach. After that, the surge could start easing up as long as Irma tracks more to the east.

EDIT. Looks like the latest from NOAA has Florida now getting the west side of the storm. That's an improvement surge-wise. But maybe more rain?

Yeah, and the storm is as big as the entire state of Ohio so it will stretch from one end of Florida to the other.

The Leeward isles looks like there are just getting devastated by surge and wind.

Stay safe y'all.

How about setting up a gathering in Montana? They could use the wet weather.

Now that you mention it, that does seem like a great idea.
;-)

In all seriousness, it's now a possibility that South and North Carolina will get hit. Although we're so far inland that we won't likely see much more than the usual flash flooding and maybe power lines going down.
Still searching for that walking treasure chest...
