My wife found this on one of her social media feeds. She immediately thought it should show up in my game and I agree it needs to spread further than that.

Re: Alien Tentacle Mushroom
Interesting Chris, and definitely a good candidate to add some more fungus-based monsters into the mix! I was just looking for another monster to use in conjunction with some shriekers yesterday while re-keying my Castle Greyhawk level 1, and the only other fungi I found was the violet fungi, but I didn't want them on level 1. Stuart's drowads were a possibility too, but a bit too powerful for what I had in mind, too, and I've never quite taken to EGG's Zuggtmoy fungi for some reason (from Dragon and MM2).Flambeaux wrote:My wife found this on one of her social media feeds. The look like they're worth statting up, perhaps in two states, too: the egg/encased state (if you burst the bubble, what happens?
Allan.

Glad to help, Allan!
I like that it attracts vermin (flies, IRL) and that it also contains a black goo that seems to related to its spores.
Made me think of the possibilities, like the shrieker, for attracting other creatures when it erupts/hatches. And the black goo made me think "possible source of black pudding".
Please let us what you come up with.

The black goo/spores could be part of a parasite/host cycle that leads back to the the original shroom.Flambeaux wrote:Glad to help, Allan!

Fungus->black goo->infected organism A->black pudding (or something else) kills something B, lays spores in it->fungus
