OK.. Lets say for what ever reason, the powers that be at "roll 20, or one of those other very highly viewed gaming podcast sites, got the oK to run a short (say made for netflicks) show, that focused on 5-6 Celebrities playing ADND..

Which 5 or 6 celebs would you LOVE to see play??

LOVE? None really. The idea of watchig people play D&D isn't all that inherently exciting to me. I'd have to think that Robin Williams and Andy Kaufmann would have been good players.

But with extremely annoying voices.

Williams, early in his career, was funny in a barely tolerable way, but soon got into a rut, as most comedians do, turning in the same performances. As for Kaufmann he was the only weak link in Taxi -- an otherwise brilliant, iconic sitcom.

This. I find the idea of watching people play D&D less exciting than watching paint dry.

The only way I could get into it is the session would have to be scripted based on actual play events, possibly, but for the most part, it would have to be entertaining and funny. This is also the reason why I cannot listen to podcasts, talk radio interviews or NPR ever.

Yeah, to me there’s something about roleplaying where it only “works” within the group, preferably of good friends, with no onlookers. The humor is hilarious in the moment but cringeworthy when relayed to people who weren’t there. Would any celebrities be able to make it entertaining while not being hammy or sarcastic? I just can’t imagine it.

But speaking of Groot, has anyone thought of allowing an Ent PC in their games, based on what they’ve seen in the GotG movies (especially the idea of starting as a young one)?

Yeah, no real interest in watching anybody (celebrity or otherwise) play D&D.

No interest, here, either. If I wasn't playing, I might briefly watch friends playing D&D for a bit before I wander off to do something else. No interest in watching celebrities (or strangers) play.

can't really think of many things related to gaming that I'd be less interested in than a celeb D&D game.

Come to think of it, I actually have sat in and watched a D&D game at the FLGS, but I only knew a few of the players, and one local celebrity. She was a news anchor at the local TV station. I wasn't there to ogle/stalk her, however, I was waiting for the game to end so I could talk to the DM about something unrelated.

Just what I picked up during their game was fairly entertaining, but it wasn't as if I was trying to make sense of what they were doing, and for that matter, I was completely lost as to what they were trying to do. It was, nevertheless, entertaining, humorous, and slightly embarrassing for some of the other players.

But I'll be arsed to sit down at my computer and watch a podcast or youtube of a game in progress.
