And if so, do you prefer using Terrain or just map packs?

Do you keep to Battle value, Tonnage or C/bill cost when makign your games?

I haven't played Battletech in years, but I liked it back in the day. Some of my friends were really into it, and also played Aerotech and the RPG (Mechwarrior?).

When we played, it was map packs, no terrain. I don't remember all the details, but we played it as a campaign, so we had to track costs and repairs and such from game to game.

I remember liking a lot of the touches in Aerotech (gravity wells, the way movement worked, etc).

I don't play/have never played Battletech, but I bought several map packs years ago. I use them for D&D terrain hex maps, and they work great.

I may even have a couple of minis. I bought them thinking they'd be great to use as robots or knights for Gamma World/Gamma Knights.

I knew one player who played in a BT game 10 or so years ago. He rolled up a human character with no mecha. He went around sniping the mechas and was responsible for many kills. I know he had a high score in that area on his cs, and probably a big honkin' gun for his main weapon.

His group allowed the kills, and it pissed off a lot of players, so, I assume the rules were on the up-and-up, but I wasn't there, don't know which rules they used, but I think it might've been the RPG rules, since it sounded like everyone rolled up PCs.

I've never read the rules or known anyone who played but it always looked cool. I did enjoy the Mechwarrior video game series.

That was one point but what put me off was the change in the rules. Extended range weapon, double heat sinks (which were fundamental in creating a limited power of the mechs). It had been a fantastic rule system with a mech creation table so you create your own. the new rules were all munchkin-fanboy crap that nerfed the game.
