OSRIC Game Launched for Amazon Echo!

Post by jjaquinta »

My game has finally passed certification and is now live for the Amazon Echo, Dot and Tap. (Google Home should follow soon.) If you have one of those devices, you should be able to play it by saying "Alexa, Play Six Swords". (You will then have to sign in with the companion app on the phone or on alexa.amazon.com.) Or you can enabled it from the web page here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GVGVSM0.

The rules are straight out of OSRIC 2.2. Right now only fighters are supported in your adventuring party. There's a landscape to explore, cities to buy/sell goods in, dungeons to loot, and castles the post bounties. Not a lot of plot right now. Just old school dungeon bashing.

Please pass on suggestions for improvement. I'm not sure it is general interest for here so I've set up a discussion board here: http://starlanes.freeforums.net/board/5 ... discussion. I'll be adding in "Downloadable Content" options going forward. If you are interested in producing content, drop me a line!

This should be out now for Google Home. Try "OK Google, talk to six swords".

Seems like an appropriate comic for this thread:

Will set up our Echo with this tomorrow and let you know what the boys think of it.

So, I linked our Alex account and enabled/added the skill. Is that all I need to do to play, other than turning on Alexa and telling her to play the game?

Yes, once the skill is linked you should just need to say "Alexa, open Six Swords" or "OK Google, Talk to Six Swords".
I update the game each Friday. Yesterday I added the first (mini) modules. There's not a Batrachian City, just north of the Village of Achnasheen.
Let me know how it goes. And, please, review it if you get the chance. I've got plenty of users, but very few reviews. If I can get to ten reviews Amazon will put me into their ad rotation.
