That shitty, slushy, sticky snow dumped on us last night, making the roads suck. Anyone coming into SE Wisconsin, use extra caution while driving and be safe!

I think that snow we got will be pretty much gone or manageable by Thursday. Northern WI got it worse.

Eh... I spoke too soon! Part of my job is supporting transactions that I don’t get much notice of, and a few of those arose over the past few days and created a conflict for this week. So, sorry for the head fake earlier and for people who had been expecting an off-grid game, but I can’t make it. Again, apologies. Have fun and post some good pics!
*sigh*

Happy 40th, buddy! You'll be sorely missed.

I hope to make it next year. In the meantime, feel free to post some pics of K&KA people kicking ass in the dungeon or passed out at the bar. :D

This year at Gary Con, there is a "Wall of Rememberance" behind Gary's Desk. I added "Jerry Mapes -Founder of the Alehouse" to it.

Officer: It'll take ten minutes.
Stinger: Bullshit ten minutes! This thing will be over in two minutes! Get on it!

That's great!

I didn't get a chance to post here earlier in the week, but I had to cancel my trip & games at Gary Con because my father-in-law passed away last weekend.
I hope to run the "Return to the Tower of Zenopus" next year instead.

We had a baby on 2/27, so I assumed it was a complete no-go, but yesterday on the spur of the moment we packed up the fam and spent a few idyllic hours in lovely Lake Geneva. Got to say hi to EOTB, tacojohn4547, francisca, Ghul, and thedungeondelver.

I'm sorry I didn't get to see many of you that attended and was unable to visit more with those I did see. I woke up on Thursday feeling like crap (I thought I may have been a little hung over, but no) and by Thursday night I could tell that it was only getting worse. So I've been home all weekend sick. Blows, but I'm glad to hear that everyone had a good time, and maybe I'll have better luck next year.

Wish I could have gone. But on the good news side all ten copies of my CSIO map sold out the first day. Should have sent more.

I have to say that socializing was the key focus of the con for me. I thought I would be all-in, Mister Focused-on-his-adventure-only guy but really, hanging out and knocking back a few rounds with friends was the be-all/end-all for me. Things to do different next time* : bring more cash! Allan had SO MUCH cool stuff at the Black Blade table. I was heartbroken I couldn't get the Keep on the Borderlands book! :( Game more! I played for about an hour on Thursday (?) night, running Sir Scud the Disposable, and I discombobulated a few Iron Golems courtesy of a Horn of Blasting, but couldn't stay too long after that. Bring more stuff for autographs! I know his art might not be to everyone's taste but dammit Larry Elmore is an alright guy! Oh, and that goes for all of them. The art guys were great and if they do another panel next year and you're going to GaryCon? GO TO THE ARTISTS PANEL. Allot more time for my own game! I honestly thought the party would get further in ToBN than they did! Although without tipping my hand they did come near to finding one of the teeth! But perhaps such an adventure was bit overreaching.

It was great to meet some of you at Garycon! For those I didn't meet, my name is Rusty and I traveled up to the con with my neighbor thedungeondelver. We've been gaming here in Central Florida for about ten years and have been promising ourselves we'd make the trek to Lake Geneva someday and finally did it. It was a fantastic time and I got to meet (hoping I get my code names right here) Falconer, Grodog, EOBT, DMPrata, and Mythmere. I can almost guarantee that I missed a couple of names there and please forgive me if I did.. it was a whirlwind of a week. At any rate, I really enjoyed spending time with ya'll and hope to join in on some conversations here on the board.

A little bit of an intro for me: I'm 43 and started playing roleplaying games in the late 80's in southwestern Ohio. I started with Star Frontiers and eventually graduated to D&D and then AD&D. By the time I was introduced to AD&D, the original books were starting to phase out of the stores and most of my stuff was 2nd edition. The guys I played with were a bit older and had the original AD&D books, which I always thought were more bitchin and I preferred those. At any rate, we had a few summers in the 90's where we played almost every day and those are some of the best memories of my life.

These days my RPG gaming is mostly with thedungeondelver in a fairly consistent Thursday night game. Right now we are doing a space-based horror game, but have been known to do some D&D, Cthulhu, and Champions as well.

Again, good to meet everyone and looking forward to participating on the board.

Thanks!

Rusty
