Holy crap! You're posting my For DM's Eyes Only note?! No one's ever going to want to play with me again! I guess my only option is to lose enough weight and grow enough hair that no one recognizes me anymore. :)

But yeah, I tried to get the party to go one way and they decided to go another. Well, if they didn't want to be my living minions then they were going to be my undead minions. Seemed like a good choice at the time.

This was a hell of an excellent con! I've only been to Gen Con before, but this was by far my best game con experience. Even though I didn't get to travel with my normal gaming group, I met some pretty good people and had a hell of a good time. I played in games run by EOTB, tacojohn, Chainsaw, and Steve and they were fantastic! I'm still trying to learn people's names and associate them with handles, so please forgive me if I got that list wrong.

And I'm gonna have to keep an eye on Chainsaw. I saw him take a few pictures here and there, but he got a lot more than I was aware of. He's pretty sneaky with that camera.

Come on now, you do the crime, you do the time! Haha! You should know I am a rat bastard - in the social, my character happily wore the Number of the Beast on his forehead and regularly lied about having spells that could have helped people in need! Probably fitting that when he drank that Potion of Growth he launched himself into EOTB's razor wire overhead and took 33 points of damage vs his 32 hit points. Amazing how the whole room cheered! Usually that doesn't happen when a PC dies...

As for you, eightbits, I'm really disappointed, actually, that your plan never unfolded. I think maybe you saw your group rise to the challenge and had mercy on them? You want to be evil, but I think you must have a good heart. :)

I agree, great NTRPG Con! I had a fun mix of games and people and everything really came togther. Steve's Dungeon of Dracula game kicked it off with a nice dungeon crawl that culminated in killing Dracula (again). Who doesn't enjoy killing Dracula? The K&KA Social's annual hilarity followed that one, where EOTB and tacojohn did a fantastic job managing more than a dozen players at the table (and as many as 17 at one point). austinjimm's 96 bottles of homebrew beer helped as well! My Strange Tale of Crystal Point games Friday and Saturday went really well, with both groups securing a pretty solid treasure that easily placed them both in the top three of the six parties that have braved Crystal Point's shores (so far). The only disappointing part is that I only disintegrated one person (austinjimm!). We got him back in action with a different, but brain-damaged character, so it was all good. Last, tacojohn brought the pain with Necropolis, an adventure that I have been wanting to play for years (and really want to play completely now), and Welleran slaughtered most of us in his Desert Shrine of the Sightless Sisters. I think a few people might have survived, actually, but my 10 point magic-user took a 28 point lightning bolt to the face, so he wasn't one of them. Pity, really. I was so pumped to roll a natural 18 for damage once and I was so sure that was a sign that my magic-user (Crasslin) had a bright future. I regret missing grodog's and austinjimm's games, but there's only so much time. Next year! Anyway, super fun overall and great catching up with everyone.

I try to snap a few here and there, it's been said.

That was my first NTRPGCon: 7 games in 5 days.

It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot.

My favorite games, I will not lie, were with you guys!

EOTB and TacoJohn's games at the K&KA Social, Mythmere's on-going campaign on Friday and Chainsaw's AS&SH game Saturday night were all my favorites.

EOTB is a great ref. He took on 17 at the start and threw us all into a dazed battle where we woke up not even knowing where or why we were there. I was hooked from the start. Later, he punished my role-play by taking 6 of my HP and giving them to Chainsaw's evil dude. All in all, a perfect AD&D experience!

TacoJohn ran a classic 1980 module that took me way back to the good old times. He dealt well with a party split very deftly. After deriding me for leaving at midnight he then handed me a copy of the module! Thanks, TacoJohn!

Mythmere's game was exactly what I was looking for from my first experience with him: no monsters, just one big challenging trick/trap that took 4 hours to figure out! In the end, with a bunch of smart, returning characters, familiar with his campaign, we made it out alive, with treasure, and that, together with a wish, allowed my character to jump 2 levels! So I can bring him back next year to die!

Finally, Chainsaw ran this game that was truly the Amazing S&SH! As he explained to me, it blends together Holmes & 1e together with providing this amazing setting of Smith, Howard, Lovecraft, etc. His perfect blend. Well, he was most at home in it and ref'ed well. The dungeon was full of wonder you wanted to touch everything but were too afraid. It seemed vast and was very deadly yet, in the end, it was "doable" with careful play. Lot's of fun!

The NTRPGCon falls right at the end of my and my kid's close of school year. I do hope to make it again, and even regularly, but the timing is tough for me. Anybody know the next dates?

Oh, and it was great to put names to handles and finally meet a lot of you: Flambeau, CapitalBill, Welleran, Steve, Balrog(?), and others whose handles escape me right now.

Fight on!

Thanks! Your group did well, definitely top three - probably best of six.

I think they target the first weekend in June - probably June 6-8 next year? They'll announce it soon. Hope you can make it!

Thanks for your feedback on the K&KA social, Tetramorph. Glad you had fun! Too bad the attack roll for the Rowdy Roddy Piper-style elbow drop missed - you would have kept your six hit points!

One cannot just "Rowdy Roddy Piper-style elbow drop" a Phylactery of Evil containing the Number of the Beast, as tetramorph sadly discovered.

Thanks again for running that insanity for almost four hours, EOTB. A few years ago, I ran a game for 13 at the social and thought it was tough - how you managed 17 so well is beyond me! Kudos to you for keeping it fun and fast. :D

For the record, all I said was that I wanted to stomp the h-ll out of it. EOTB interpreted that to mean a leap from a giant mushroom Pro-wrestler style! (A good ref interp, by the way!)

And next time I will. Oh yes. Remember, "you should have burned in hell," Chainsaw! Someday that chaotic evil clerical luck is going to run out. And when it does my lawful neutral superhero will be there!

Don't say shit like that on the internet! You'll ruin my rep!

But yeah, I had mercy on them. When they decided to chicken out and quit early with the loot we grabbed instead of continuing to grab more loot, I just thought, "Oh you dirty little bastards. That's it, I'm launching Plan Oh Shit right now!" I was waiting for the players to stop talking so I could spring into action but you immediately told them this was one of the best runs through this dungeon you've ever seen. Man, their faces lit up like they had just hopped on Cloud 9. I didn't want to take that away from them so I pulled the plug.

Sorry to disappoint. But they got their one free pass. Next time they fry.

To be a little more specific the Con is always the First Thursday of the month. So the date for next year will be June 1st-4th. :) Remember we are also moving to a new hotel next year. Here is that location just so you guys know(really not that much further from the airport as the Marriott. Just north instead of south.)

The Westin Dallas Fort Worth Airport

Dang! Won't be able to use my Marriot perks anymore. Oh well, I'll still be there.

Thanks for the info, David. I assume that the convention room rates haven't been locked in yet, so we should hold off on making reservations until an official announcement?

You are correct. I would hold off on rooms until something more official is posted. My guess would be next month. Recovery time and all :)
