I’m over the halfway point for Kolchak. I’m curious about the D&D tie ins. One episode had a huge plant monster that very much reminded me of a Shambling Mound. I’m watching one now about a Rakshasa. Both episodes are from 1974. Interesting stuff!
Edit: now Kolchak has learned he need to use a blessed crossbow bolt to kill it.

EGG was on the record that that episode inspired the D&D rakshasa

I didn't know that. Very cool.
I'm working my way threw Dark Shadows (The Beginning) now, a few episodes a day (Amazon Prime). If you haven't seen the show start on episode 210 (Barnabas shows up).

Dark Shadows. I remember that old series. It has been a long time since I have seen that one. But I have seen the recent Johnny Depp movie version.

Series 8 of the revived Doctor Who. I was just about to stop watching the series, but Peter Capaldi is the best of the new-era doctors so far, so I'm glad I persisted.

IMO, Capaldi ranks just behind Tom Baker in performance of that role. It's really too bad he was handed so many horrible scripts, as you will soon find out, you innocent waif.
OTOH, he has some gut punching stories coming up, especially toward the end of his tenure, that you'll watch again and again. Enjoy.

Thanks, I'm intrigued!

Beware. Beyond Capaldi is a no man's land.
You were warned.

The first episode of War of the Worlds (2019) is good. Like really good. Every episode after that is just a smaller and smaller story of people living in misery.
Think of that Dracula show that came out a couple of years ago. The first episode was awesome, the second weird and not quite as good, and the third totally wtf bad. Well, none of the WotW subsequent episodes of the first are even that interesting.
Edited for clarity

The ending completely undid what very little good impression I had of the 3rd episode. Had that stupidity not occurred, I would have given the show a marginal thumbs up.

Yeah they really phoned in the third act. I was expecting something far more sinister for sure.
If they had made it two parts with the beginning scene of part 3 as the ending it would have been a great cliff-hanger.
The first two parts were worth watching, I was fully into them.

I saw the movie "Nobody" the other day with friends. It stars Bob Odendirk (Better Call Saul) in an unusual role for him. It has, possibly, the most violence packed into a movie that I have seen in some time. It also has some other familiar faces (Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future as his dad in a nursing home). Entertaining film. It won't win any academy awards. That alone makes it better than any of the films that will.

I have to catch up on the last 40 years of Dr. Who. I only saw a handful of those after Jon Pertwee (I think he was the 3rd Doctor?). I have no idea what they are up to.
