Finished up the Madam Secretary series a week or so ago. So the family pivoted to Anne with an E. It's the Anne of Green Gables series told slightly differently per my youngest.

I finished up Queen's Gambit. Not bad if you like chess and a kinda 1960s period-ish piece.

Also, catching America's Cup highlights on YouTube. Damn those boats are fast for their size. I think Luna Rosa is gonna win mostly because of the start is so important and they are getting the better draw in the sequence of starts. However, they are so closely matched that one mistake could change that.

Watching Quatermass and the Pit. They finally released it on dvd a year or so ago, apparently. For my money, it’s the best sci fi-horror movie of all time (even better than Alien) and arguably one of the best sci fi movies of all time.

Yeah I saw that one not too long ago on TCM. I remember seeing that one as a kid on TV a couple of times. The mantis looking alien dudes. I love some of those old Sci Fi movies.

Still working our way through a lecture series on the Vikings. Not sure what's up next after that.

We might continue our focus on medieval Western Europe or shift focus to the Ottoman Empire. We watched through a series on the Eastern Roman Empire prior to starting the series on the Vikings.

I need to make time to watch some classic noir films and the rest of my Kurosawa collection.

What exactly did you watch. I’m always interested in that stuff. I’ve been watching some of the Amazon prime history stuff. battle Castle is fun very D&Dish as well.

The Great Courses The Vikings and
The Great Courses World of Byzantium

Both feature Kenneth Harl of Tulane University.

We discovered his lectures when studying the ancient Greeks with the kids a few years ago. He's an excellent lecturer with a dry sense of humor.

Decided today that next up is The Great Courses The Medieval World presented by Dorsey Armstrong of Perdue University.

We grab them on sale; The Great Courses almost always have something interesting on sale.

For Saint Paddy’s Day I'm going with Boondock Saints and a glass (or two) of Paddy’s Irish whisky. (The Quiet Man was runner up).

Oh cool! Haven't watched either of those. Yeah the Great Courses are usually really good. We're watching the Tudors to Stuarts now (Robert Bucholz at Loyola). The one on Cathedrals is really worth getting if your into that sort of thing. I forget the lecturer, but he's excellent.

Thanks for the recommendations, Axe!
We'll check those out.

Going old school. I started watching Kolchak: The Night Stalker. I probably haven’t watched these since the 70s. This was the first thing I watched growing up that really freaked me out (in a good way). So far they hold up pretty well. I never really thought about it but shows like X Files, Supernatural, and other “monster of the week” shows owe a lot to this one.
