Of course, a few minutes later it go boom, but somebody's gotta be the first to try this stuff. And, now at least they're in the ballpark.
Is it just me, or did some of that footage, especially toward the end, look a little CGI?
I think it's we're not used to that much detail for a non- Hollywood launch scene. Those were some crazy shots, but if anyone would spend as much to video a launch as the launch itself, that'd be Musk.
I'm sure the flat Earthers and fake moon landings crew are on the case.
Hey, maybe it was just me. Maybe it was the unusual maneuvers of the craft, but it looked like some frame lag for a little bit, and that made it appear CGI'd.
I've noticed that since I turned off the TV back in January, that my visual perception of stuff is changing, among other things.

Rewatched Westworld (1973). Thinking about buying the HBO series on DVD, but need to get reviews from trusted sources (instead of the sockpuppets on Amazon).

The first season of Westworld on HBO is absolutely fantastic [as in 9+ out of 10]; the second season dropped off a bit but was still great. The third season was a complete dud, in my opinion...other than some excellent location shoots (Singapore) and cinematography I didn't feel it was worth watching. Even though I subscribe to HBO I'm not going to make any effort to watch the fourth season. Westworld Season 3 was actually worse than GoT Season 8, IMO.
The first two episodes of Alice in Borderland on Netflix are pretty good. I haven't gotten further than that, but it's a promising series. I'm thinking it's the shitlord DM of everyone's nightmares, but it's entertaining from the outside looking in.

Season 1 of Westworld is fantastic. 10/10. One of the most gorgeously shot tv shows of all time. Pretty much mandatory viewing if you’re into either Westerns or sci-fi.
Season 2 is a step back. It’s a bit muddled in its storytelling. Still, better than 90% of what’s on tv and a worthy follow up to season 1. 8/10.
Season 3 is an excellent show that’s painted itself into a corner and doesn’t know where to go or even if it should continue going. They’ve lost a lot of great actors and characters at this point. Many of the new characters aren’t as well-realized. (Although I liked Aaron Paul as a new addition very much.) They tried broadening their horizons, but I think instead diluted the product.
There’s still great actors and very pretty scenery and interesting shots, but the whole doesn’t add up to a great show. I don’t think they’ve irreversibly wrecked anything. It’s not like the end of Game of Thrones where the creators seemed to get careless and lazy. Instead, I think they were ambitious and overshot their mark. It’s a 4/10 season for me, but I think there’s still enough potential that I’ll happily watch the next season just to see if they can recover their mojo.

I began watching Game of Thrones finally. I tried watching a few episodes before but could not get into it. But without starting from the beginning it is difficult to evaluate a series like that. I am only about three episodes in but since I am sort of home bound for a couple of weeks I should finish the first season. I only recognize three people in the series (so far anyway). Lots of royal intrigue. Some violence. So far I have not been too disappointed.

I thought that the pacing in the first season was way too rushed. The visuals were great, but the show just never stuck the way that the books did, for me. (Of course I still haven't read the last book that's split into two books, either, so I should probably say that the show didn't stick like the first few books did ).
We just finished watching 3 seasons of the TV version of "Get Shorty". It stars Chris O'Dowd (Roy from the IT Crowd) as an organized crime enforcer involved in the movie business. It was a totally entertaining and tense show with a great supporting cast.

Allan.
Unfortunately movies/tv series based upon books often seem a bit rushed like that. I guess they feel like you need all the details to be crammed into it just in case you have not read the books. In this case...they would be right. I haven't read them. I remember feeling this way when I first saw the Dino De Laurentis verison of Dune on the big screen. It was a long movie but the books were so incredibly thick with detail it really did not translate well to the big screen. Those who had not read the books felt a bit lost when watching it. Those who had probably felt like it was too long.
The Terminator, with my son. He's a little young for it, but I saw Predator at the movies with my dad when I was his age and turned out just fine.
Tell you what, this Arnie period was fucking golden:
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
Conan the Destroyer (1984)
The Terminator (1984)
Commando (1985)
Raw Deal (1986)
Predator (1987)
The Running Man (1987)
