This is cooler than I thought, at first glance. I've retired two characters (to get the Yeoman and the Tavern Keeper).

I play the advanced version. My "strategy" is to stick near the entrance (lots of backtracking) and avoid bashing in doors, and only fight if I'm pretty sure of winning or just can't avoid it.

My most promising dungeon robber found a set of plate mail on the 1st level (just sitting around), and took a rapier from a dead kobold. He even hired a henchman. Unfortunately, he died to a flaming oil trap (despite having a 10' pole).

Naming the dungeon robbers based on KnK members is a good idea.

Donovan the Doughty
Stuart the Stalwart
Robert the Red
Matthew the Myth
William the Wile
Jason the Just
Russell the Righteous
Anthony the Artful (AKA Tony the Terror)
Mark the Marker

Congratulations to Jason the Just! He ventured into the dungeon and returned rich! He is now a tavernkeeper. Jason the Just played on Advanced difficulty. The story of Jason the Just shall be recorded on the Adventurer's Monument to inspire further generations.

I think it’s broken if you have too much data in your save (i.e., since we’re all playing Advanced, our Graveyards are chock-full).

Yeah, I can't make it recall my best save.

Strongly reminiscent of nethack...

Kind of fun. It's the sort of thing I talked about doing for years but never got around to doing.

With a sprained ankle and not much to do at night for the last week, I got a fighter to 100,000 ex and King Minh now allows me to buy magical goodies. Also have a merchant and Knight. I haven't found much advantage to going deeper levels except treasure is slightly better (although I've found +1 platemail and more on the 1st level) but the monsters are deadlier. As soon as I accumulate about 1000 gp in swag I head back to the surface, usually end up getting lost so it's better to do this before you're in dire straights. A +2 fishing pole is awesome, you can stock up on food and occasionally find a pretty good treasure.

Treasure is in a stone container.

3 days of play and 15K XP down the drain!

Totally unfair. What about your character development arc? What about resolution of the emotional backstory?

I should totally have had the option to continue playing as Tinder the subdued fire beetle!

That actually may be a valid point. I sense some unsolicited feedback in the game developer's future.

Hey folks, remember this game? Somewhat surprisingly, it's still online and it's been long enough since I binge-played it for those couple weeks back in 2013 that it's fun again :)

I tried it again a couple weeks ago and it was still boring and frustrating. *shrug*
I guess I haven't had a long-enough time away from it.
