Maybe I'm not understanding the layout of the board, but it looks to me like there are spots around the edge where players can lay down cards as they play. The corners look a little bare to me and I thought they might benefit from some diagonally-placed "playing spaces" as well. Actually, something that resembles a runway would be cool.

Right, there shouldn't be any wasted space on a game board. It still looks great, but from a utilitarian standpoint, you'd want those corners doing *something*. Don't know how that affects the grade. If it just has to look badass, then it's okay, but if use of space matters, then you should utilize the corners.

Ah I gotcha. Yeah, to do that I'd need to whip up something vector (I've used up my three source image limit) and unfortunately I have two other final projects - including a beast of an essay - that I have to get done. Think I'm going to send this one in as-is, but had I been doing this for a real game I'd certainly look for things to balance out the corners (I was thinking stuff like the corner of a TOP SECRET manilla folder, a pen, a compass . . . stuff like that).
And this is all "just for looks". Fortunately I don't think my instructor knows a thing about game design, and no one else that I know of in the class is doing anything remotely similar. Most of these kids are doing anime posters.
I really appreciate the suggestion everyone. Thanks!

I think it's quite good to have a bit of space between the players' stations. Don't need to make it too busy. But if you must, give each player an airstrip which they can use to roll cigars on before play begins.

I'm happy they are. My instructor is old school and hates anime. These kids just make me look good.

Perfect score on the project and aced the class. Instructor even made a poster of the Bomb's Away board that I'll give to my kid. Thanks guys for the help: this grapic design stuff is pretty cool.
Web design, however, may take some getting used to (if my little toe dip into InDesign and HTML is any indicator).
