That is a true statement for most people.

I’m most of the way through Devil’s Tor by David Lindsay. It’s interesting but nowhere close to A Voyage to Arcturus for weirdness. Also, it could’ve used a heavy edit... too wordy and long.

I have sort of held on to my Halloween reading and started in randomly reading some non-HPL stories from some of my Arkham House books. Oh, and part of the mystery for Bab Yaga's Hut, the podcast mentions that it is the ONLY artifact/relic from mythology. Every other one was made up by Gygax and company. That actually appears to be true, a detail which gives even more "credibility" to the story.

Just started this podcast, sort of a fortean mockumentary drama that mixes elements of CoC, true crime shows and surprisingly AD&D, namely in the person of the fictional editor of the DMG and guy who suggested the Hut of Baba Yaga to Gary. The remake was generally awful. Sure, the production quality was good. But the writing was SO uneven. One week Starbuck would be drunk and passed out in her own puke, and the next she was some super professional warrior? Uh, sure. I own a copy of The Black Wheel but have never gotten around to reading it.

I was rummaging around and found to my surprise that I own this one. I threw it on the read pile and will report back on it.

I’ve read the the two Ballantine Adult Fantasy books by him, Beyond the Golden Stair and The Sorcerer’s Ship. I vaguely recall I liked the former and thought the latter was merely ok.

I’m curious about how you like it. I’ve never played but it’s been vaguely on my radar for a long time.

You roll a random encounter and it goes in a totally different direction than kill-kill-kill and then you think, "Maybe these creatures should have a den around here or down one level."
