Re: What are you reading?

I’m most of the way through Devil’s Tor by David Lindsay. It’s interesting but nowhere close to A Voyage to Arcturus for weirdness. Also, it could’ve used a heavy edit... too wordy and long.

Re: What are you reading?

I have sort of held on to my Halloween reading and started in randomly reading some non-HPL stories from some of my Arkham House books. Last night was Sticks by Karl Edward Wagner and Return of the Sorcerer by CAS. The latter was especially cool as I recently watched the Night Gallery episode with V...

Re: Tanis

Oh, and part of the mystery for Bab Yaga's Hut, the podcast mentions that it is the ONLY artifact/relic from mythology. Every other one was made up by Gygax and company. That actually appears to be true, a detail which gives even more "credibility" to the story.

Re: Tanis

Just started this podcast, sort of a fortean mockumentary drama that mixes elements of CoC, true crime shows and surprisingly AD&D, namely in the person of the fictional editor of the DMG and guy who suggested the Hut of Baba Yaga to Gary. If you've listened I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, ho...

Galactica 1980 is THE giant fetid shit in the world of science fiction. That's all you need to know.
Amen.

(at least they had the decency to change the name to Galactica 1980)

Re: Rewatching BSG

The remake was generally awful. Sure, the production quality was good. But the writing was SO uneven. One week Starbuck would be drunk and passed out in her own puke, and the next she was some super professional warrior? Uh, sure. I swear there were two writing teams, one that wrote good sci fi war ...

I own a copy of The Black Wheel but have never gotten around to reading it.
I was rummaging around and found to my surprise that I own this one. I threw it on the read pile and will report back on it.

Re: grodog starts reading A. E. Merritt

I’ve read the the two Ballantine Adult Fantasy books by him, Beyond the Golden Stair and The Sorcerer’s Ship. I vaguely recall I liked the former and thought the latter was merely ok.

I’m curious about how you like it. I’ve never played but it’s been vaguely on my radar for a long time.

Wrapped up the current dungeon (after some KIAs) and transitioning to the next with a few replacement PCs. Good times!

Re: The Shattered Citadel

You roll a random encounter and it goes in a totally different direction than kill-kill-kill and then you think, "Maybe these creatures should have a den around here or down one level." It has the potential to create a more organic feeling environment, I guess? Very true. In my Vladikavkaz megadung...

Slowly working my way episode by episode through Night Gallery. It seemed appropriate after going through every Twilight Zone episode.

Allan, I had NOT seen those. Might be a large Otherworld order in my future. While I’ve tried to stick with 25mm those are too good to pass up!
