Re: Classic Miniatures - Hertiage LOTR and Dungeon Dwellers

Here are a few more I ran across. The first were originally from the Heritage LOTR line - they were Men of Rhun and now are Men of Ruin. I'm pretty sure the Dwarves are Heritage, as well. The last are Heritage Female Magic Users. https://i.imgur.com/1Axrb1P.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BRdhuhv.jpg https:...

Re: Classic Miniatures - Hertiage LOTR and Dungeon Dwellers

He sent it to me this morning...I haven't gone through to see what he has new, but he mentioned he's added Dungeon Dwellers and LOTR figures to his available assortment. I've purchased a ton of stuff from this guy over the past few years. He works full time so he can be slow to respond to orders, bu...

Re: Dragon Painting

Thanks, all! you did them in a day each? Yes! Here's a secret...painting dragons is pretty easy! Most of them take 2-3 hours to paint from start to finish. There's really not a lot of different colors to work with and there aren't many fine details requiring careful painting. Depending on the color,...

Don’t get your hopes up too high. Creep, Shadow, Creep was cited by Gygax as a favorite but IMO it’s one of Merritt’s lesser novels, probably my second-least favorite after The Metal Monster.
You’re killing me! Probably true. My favorites still remain Face in the Abyss and Moon Pool.

You motivated me enough to read Burn Witch Burn recently. Pretty decent. I’m holding off on Creep Shadow Creep until I finish my annual Christmas Tolkien reading.

Huh, I'd have thought the word censoring would block that out.

...I don't recall CM even having AC in it... It does with the Man-to-Man portion of the rules. It more or less tracks with OD&D and Holmes in that there are 8 types or classes of armor (NO ARMOR through PLATE+SHIELD). Interestingly enough, "No Armor" is listed as class 1 and Plate+Shield is class 8...

Re: What Are You Watching?

I have not read Storm of Steel. I will take a look at it. Storm of Steel is very much worth the read. From 2014-2018 I read 60 or so books on WW1. Four personal accounts I read were quite interesting. They were also quite amazingly in line with the cliche views of each nationality: Storm of Steel (...

Recently discovered that I rather like Killing Joke and probably should have started listening to them a long time ago.
Eighties is one of my favorites. I have a fond memory is dancing to that song near midnight, New Years Eve 1989.

I'm purging a dozen or so 2E books on eBay. I've never used them and probably never will. Time to make space for new acquisitions!

Re: What are you reading?

I'm currently re-reading de Camp & Pratt's The Incomplete Enchanter for the first time in 30+ years. It's holding up okay. Definitely extremely dated, but still mostly fun. I just finished it a few weeks ago with about the same gap since I last read it. Not surprisingly, my take is about the same a...

Re: Solitaire Wargaming

As I run out of figures to paint (!!) and lockdowns seem to again be the wave of the near future, I’m getting an itch for some solo gaming. I played SPI’s Sauron and Minas Tirith games a few months back. Those are pretty simple ones. I’m now thinking about trying Men of Iron (GMT, medieval battles) ...
