Re: NTRPG Con IX (2017)
Damn its been forever since I posted here. Looking forward to my first ever K&KA Social this year (please save me a beer; I'll bring whisky/scotch for trade). Thursday night Paranoia has always interfered but Ben moved it to Thursday afternoon so I'm definitely in. Glad you are going to be "onsite" ...

OK....Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/kingofpain89/Stuff/DSC04529_zpse4590ef5.jpg This is one dark, smoky, malty monstrosity. Just a tad thicker, and darker, than motor oil. Nice warmth to it and the flavor is...ummm...dark. If Drow brewed beer, this is what it wo...

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished up The Swords of Night and Day by David Gemmell. Decent fantasy and a quick read...not as enjoyable as Legend but it did the trick. I also had the itch to read a Dean Koontz book titled The Taking a few weeks back based on some reviews I read. Not quite your typical end-of-the-world no...

Re: North Texas RPG Convention 2013: June 6-9
Only four more days!!! Anyone coming in on Wednesday evening? I know Jim Ward is hosting a poker game, Frank Mentzer is running Ticket to Ride, Steve Winter is pulling out Knights of Camelot, and Bill Barsh is going to run a D&D game. There will also probably be some Circus Maximus or Gladiator if w...

Re: Brew
If you like a bit of chocolatey goodness in your brew, this is one fantastic beer: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/kingofpain89/Stuff/DSC04525_zps8cee77fb.jpg It's got a hint of dark chocolate and spiciness to it but the flavors aren't overpowering. Similar in flavor to Young's Double Chocol...

Re: The SciFi Movies Less Watched
There was actually only one song by Ministry in Hardware - "Stigmata", from The Land of Rape and Honey , their 1988 album. The other parts of the soundtrack were industrial/ambient stuff by Simon Boswell, audio drops from the movie (including Lemmy from Motorhead talking to one of the protagonists ...

Re: The SciFi Movies Less Watched
Its really a cult movie, and more fantasy than science fiction, but I've really wanted to see "Big Trouble in Little China" for the better part of a year now. None of the local stores have it on DVD. One of my favorites from the 80's was "Brainstorm" with Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. I have...

Re: North Texas RPG Convention 2013: June 6-9
As luck would have it, I have [finally] gotten the green light to put this great con back on my summer schedule! Whoot! Saturday morning - The Caverns of Thracia, a la AD&D - 4th level PCs diving headfirst into the Caverns of Thracia Saturday evening - Beneath the Okarian Presidio - a level 8 Barso...

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished The Chronoliths by Robert Charles Wilson. Nice quick sci-fi read. I'm planning on either Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan or Hull Zero Three by Greg Bear next.

Re: North Texas RPG Convention 2013: June 6-9
I'm up for whatever. I'm planning on bringing my dungeons, but last year we had enough players for at least 2 games. So, I can run a game like last year, or not. There will be lot's of beer. The Paranoia game is back on for Thursday night but I'll still have to stop by and hang out for a bit. Someo...

Re: Brew
Nice and malty. Bit of dark chocolate/coffee bitterness in the background. Nice warmth to it as well (12.5%). I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it had been brewed deep underground by surly dwarves.rredmond wrote:Imperial stout = goodness. Never heard of this one, how's the taste?

Re: Brew
I've gotta get meself to Gary Con one of these days. Wisconsin in Winter can't be any worse than Texas in Summer. I was a bit worried that this thread might drop off the front page. Not only was this brew fantastic, but the label is nothing short of stunning. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd50/...

Re: Brew
Speaking of good beers and corks.....if this one didn't cost ten bucks a bottle I'd be drinking it every day.DungeonDork wrote:You know it's good because it has a cork in it.

The Montecristo wasn't bad either.

Re: Brew
MMmmm looks yummy. The Quadrupel Ale looks really good. Sounds like something I'd like, except the "cherries added" piece makes me take pause. It's rare that I like beer that has fruit in it, only because I don't really like sweet beer. But cherries can have a tartness... please let me know what yo...

I like the cut of your jib, kingofpain89. Your first post at K&KA is in the beer thread, and your handle references an awesome Police song. :D Oddly enough, most people don't catch The Police reference. They usually think it means something else. :) I bring a large ice chest full of various libatio...
